Participant Stories & Field Case Studies
Real accounts from tradespeople, rural property operators, and hardware managers who have applied our thermodynamics, 415V electrical balancing, and micro-soldering training in the field.
“We had 85kW of rooftop solar on our packing shed that AusNet capped to 5kW export. Attending the 2-day immersion workshop in Cowwarr gave me the exact electrical schematics to build an automated 40kW immersion tank using dielectric fluid. Sizing the brazed plate heat exchanger for our 40°C February days was the key insight. The course is very dense—there is a lot of electrical math packed into Day 1 which felt rushed before lunch, but having the physical test tank running in front of us made the concepts stick.”
“I have been wiring three-phase switchboards for 15 years, but troubleshooting domain voltage faults on Antminer hashboards was a different discipline. Lachlan's microscope bench setup and oscilloscope signal tracing guide showed me how to pinpoint failing LDO voltage regulators in under ten minutes. We recovered four dead boards on our very first practice run.”
“Craig came out to our property for the full-day feasibility audit. His 25-page report identified that our transformer head had harmonic headroom constraints we hadn't accounted for, which saved us from burning out our main supply breaker. While the audit fee plus regional travel from Gippsland was a noticeable initial line item, the single-line diagram provided our local electrician with everything needed for safety compliance.”
“The 82 dB(A) fan whine from my two Whatsminer units in my backyard shed was causing tension with my neighbours. The acoustic baffling clinic gave me the exact rockwool plenum dimensions and airflow CFM equations to build an intake and exhaust silencer box. Noise dropped down to 48 dB(A) at the fence line while chip temperatures only went up by 2°C.”
Goulburn Valley 85kW Solar Curtailment Project
The Challenge
A commercial orchard in northern Victoria installed an 85kW solar array to power refrigeration compressors during apple harvest. During spring and early summer when compressors sat idle, the local distribution network capped solar export to 5kW, dumping upwards of 350kWh of clean generation per day.
The Engineering Solution
Following our 2-Day Immersion Lab, the owner constructed a closed-loop 40kW single-phase dielectric immersion tank. Using an automated Modbus controller linked to their solar inverter, the immersion system throttles miner power dynamically, converting 100% of otherwise curtailed energy into direct computation with zero grid export violations.
