In-person intensive lab (Cowwarr Facility, VIC) 2 Days (16 bench & instruction hours, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) 51 Railway Street, Cowwarr VIC 3858

Practical Hashrate & Immersion Lab (2-Day Gippsland Workshop)

An intensive 16-hour hands-on technical workshop at our Cowwarr test bench covering dielectric fluid thermodynamics, 415V three-phase sub-board balancing, brazed plate heat exchangers, and dry-cooler installation.

Practical Hashrate & Immersion Lab (2-Day Gippsland Workshop)

Who This Is For

Rural property owners, electrical tradespeople, self-managed mining operators, and facility engineers seeking real mechanical immersion experience.

Practical Knowledge & Bench Outcomes

  • Operate single-phase dielectric fluid immersion tanks safely with real Antminer and Whatsminer hardware
  • Calculate flow rates, heat dissipation in kWth, and fluid viscosity changes across 25°C to 65°C operating cycles
  • Wire and meter 415V three-phase PDUs with neutral-current harmonic mitigation for dense inductive loads
  • Plumb closed-loop cooling circuits with primary/secondary water pumps, brazed plate heat exchangers, and dry coolers
  • Tune custom ASIC firmware voltage/frequency tables for high-density immersion without triggering chip overheating faults

Curriculum & Session Schedule

Day 1 Morning

Thermodynamics & Dielectric Fluid Dynamics

Examining fluid viscosity, pump head calculations, material compatibility with seals/cables, and heat transfer coefficients comparing air vs engineered dielectric fluids.

Day 1 Afternoon

ASIC Teardown & Immersion Prep

Removing stock fans, installing fan spoofs, cleaning thermal paste, installing upgraded thermal pads, and submerging hashboards into live test tanks.

Day 2 Morning

Three-Phase 415V Power & Switchboard Distribution

Calculating continuous thermal load, neutral wire sizing for non-linear power supplies, C-curve vs D-curve breaker selection, and grounding loops.

Day 2 Afternoon

Heat Exchangers, Dry Coolers & Firmware Overclocking

Plumbing brazed plate exchangers, sizing external dry cooler radiators for 40°C Victorian summer ambient temps, and calibrating dynamic per-chip autotuning.

Scope & Equipment Exposure

Comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and firmware calibration on live 40kW immersion testing units and air-cooled diagnostic rigs.

What Is Included

  • 2 full days of direct bench access with live ASIC hardware and dielectric test tanks
  • Course handbook containing Australian AS/NZS 3000 compliance guidance for continuous high-draw electrical installations
  • Safety PPE kit (nitrile immersion gloves, ESD wrist strap, safety eye protection)
  • Lunch, morning tea, and Gippsland roasted coffee on both days
  • Custom calculation spreadsheets for fluid flow, CFM air pressure drop, and solar curtailment sizing
  • Certificate of Completion and 30-day post-workshop technical support hotline access

What Is Excluded

  • Accommodation and personal travel to Cowwarr, VIC
  • Personal mining hardware (bench test units are provided, though attendees may bring one personal machine for diagnostic evaluation on Day 2)
  • Certified electrician sign-offs (we teach electrical engineering design, but formal grid connections require your licensed electrician)

Lead Instructor & Prerequisites

Lead Instruction: Led by Craig Sterling (Senior Power Systems Engineer & Thermal Specialist) and Lachlan Reid (Hardware Diagnostic Technician).

Preparation: Basic understanding of electrical terminology (volts, amps, watts) is helpful. Bring a sturdy pair of work boots and a laptop for telemetry exercises.

Constraints & Class Size: Workshops are restricted to 6 attendees per session to guarantee each participant gets hands-on time wiring switchboards and operating the immersion pump stations.
